john gonzales is lot of with details. >> this tragic accident really puts in perspective how curious small children are. the entire neighborhood is grieving with the family and everyone is trying to make sense of this. a parent's worst nightmare came true in a dale city neighborhood. a 4-year-old found a gun and said his pickup truck and accidentally shot himself in the head. he could not be saved. >> it hurts. >> family members were inside the house and a young boy wandered out the front door yesterday afternoon by himself. >> they believe the vehicle was unlocked and belong to a family member. >> the error was swarming with police in minutes. >> this is a nephew we're talking about. there is nothing to talk about. >> neighbors recall hearing one-

shot. >> it hurts to the court because the child was so young and he was going up and down the block and i look -- on a little bicycle. >> the did not say who was responsible for watching the child or whose weapon it was in the truck. it is unclear how long the boy was left outside unattended. charges are pending this morning. >> d.c. police are looking for the man wanted for stabbing a woman in northeast which happened a few hours ago on trinidad ababa. the woman was taken to the hospital with non-life- threatening injuries. >> or roar, colorado begins feeling after the movie theater massacre last week. investigators are learning more about the accused gunman. james holmes may have mailed a notebook detailing his plans for the shooting to the university

for a special session and went and f there will be talking about expanding gambling. there are reports that maryland governor martin o'malley could announce as soon as today a special session to call lawmakers back to annapolis to talk about these plans. among the plans are a casino here at the national harbour and allowing for table games. this had support in the senate but failed in the house. supporters say would bring more jobs and people here and put money in the state but opponents say it could bring the possibility of more crime and more crowded at the national arbor. the deadline to call them back for a special session is august 20. it is likely to be called back lab -- next month.

adam caskey. >> it will be back up to near 100 today. the record high is one of the three degrees and the average is 88 degrees and we will be well above that. let's look at the temperatures -- 75 degrees in washington right now. cumberland is 64 degrees but it is planning in cumberland right now. about one and decrease for the high temperature but when you factor in the humidity which is increasing it will feel like 105-109 degrees later this afternoon. there's about a 30% chance of storms later this afternoon and evening than that will mainly be north of town. we are under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms later

today. in pennsylvania, that as a moderate risk. it is almost certain there will have severe thunderstorms north of the mason-dixon line. around here it will just be isolated. heavy rainfall lightning and thunder near cumberland but not much for gusty winds. it is pushing off to the east and south east. it will continue to track to the southeast early this morning but i am not expecting that to make it to the metro area. 96 degrees by tomorrow for 100 today and back down into the 90's the next few days and by sunday it could be upper 80's. there will be a slight drop in the humidity but it is still typical summertime humidity. we have storm chances daily. >> i have a look at the beltway in montgomery county with the crash, and a look at university

after accidentally shooting himself. >> it happened after the child found a loaded gun inside a relatives truck on empire streets in dale city. john gonzales is live with details. >> the neighborhood is in shock this morning and neighbors have been remembering this little voice saying you could always find an outside riding his bicycle. it was just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon when neighbors heard hearing one shot. that one shot killed the four- year-old boy. family members were inside the house and police believe the boy wandered out the front door and into an unlocked pickup truck. belonging to a relative. loved ones are visibly distraught and ran to the scene and it was swarming with police and paramedics in minutes. police are not saying who was responsible for watching the 4-

year-old child or lose loaded gun was left inside that on locked vehicle. there are a lot of questions this morning and it is unclear how long the boy had been outside unattended. no one has been identified and police are investigating this. charges are pending. >> meantime maryland lawmakers may soon be called back to annapolis. they want to come up with a plan to expand gambling. the governor could announce a special session as early as today and a plan under consideration would allow table games at a new casino and a national harbour in prince george's county. any proposal approved by lawmakers have to be approved by voters in november ballot a key member of congress appears to be putting the brakes on the d.c. efforts to enact a commuter tax. steny hoyer says the tax is not

temperatures will fall slowly the next couple of days. we will take a look at the radar in a few seconds but the temperatures look like this. cumberland has some rain and are 64 degrees. there's a chance of a few severe storms later this afternoon. it looks at the temperatures will be near 100 with the heat index 105-109 degrees. we have a heat advisory in effect for the vast majority of our viewing area. until it o'clock p.m.. the yellow. is the risk of severe storms but north of the mason dixon line they have a moderate risk. the best chance for storms will be north of the metro even this afternoon. right now we have ongoing storms in parts of western maryland
